Assignment Identify two adult vaccinations and describe the illness that they help prevent. •  The two adult vaccinations that I chose are the Tdap vaccine and the pneumococcal vaccine.(please write on this topic) Use this as a guide only. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends vaccination of adults to prevent the spread and prevent people from getting serious diseases that affect individuals' health and even increase health care costs (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2019).  Adults are recommended to get an influenza vaccine annually, especially for those with chronic conditions. The flu is a viral infection, which is common but can be deadly, especially for groups with high risks such as those with chronic diseases, pregnant women, and a weak immune system. A Td vaccine is also recommended to protect against tetanus and diphtheria. The shot should be given after ten years. Tetanus causes stiffening of muscles and can lead to death. It enters the body through wounds and cuts. Diphtheria spreads among persons can lead to paralysis, difficulty breathing, and death (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2019). The Misconception that Contributes to Older Population Forgoing the Vaccinations The misconception among older adults that result in them forgoing vaccines is that they had been vaccinated during childhood, and there are not at risk of getting the diseases. The conception is misguided since the immunity gained from childhood vaccinations wanes over time, increasing the risk of getting certain conditions. For example, the two vaccinations listed above are recommended to be administered after a certain period to improve their ability to help prevent diseases. A Solution to Increase the Number of those willing to be vaccinated. Some barriers need to be addressed to increase the rate of adult vaccinations among adults. Their level of knowledge influences the behavior and attitude of adults towards immunization. And, about the importance of prevention and their impact on health. According to Alici, Sayiner, &Unal (2017), the utilization of healthcare services available is linked to health literacy. The health care industry should increase health literacy on vaccination to enable individuals to make informed decisions. Educating the adults through community forums or even in hospitals can influence their understanding of the need for immunization that reduces the risk of suffering from preventable diseases.
