SWOT ANAYLIS

As a DNP leader you will be influencing healthcare system change whether it is in the community, an office practice, or other healthcare institutions. It is important to understand how to perform an evaluation and provide recommendations for change. A SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis provides a way to gain insight into the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities or threats to the organization or practice setting. You should prepare a 3-page SWOT analysis of your practice site (e.g. hospital, office practice, nursing home). The paper should include a figure along with written context to further explain what this means. Be specific (avoid vague statements), get feedback from others, be realistic (set bias aside). Suggest how strengths can be maximized, weaknesses improved, seize opportunities, and neutralize threats. Below is a link from the CDC describing how to conduct a SWOT analysis on a Community of Practice. A Community of Practice (CoP) is defined as "a group of people who share a concern, a set of problems, or a passion about a topic, and who deepen their knowledge and expertise by interacting on an ongoing basis. 1 (Links to an external site.)" The three distinct elements that comprise a CoP are a community that enables interaction (such as discussions, collaborative activities, and relationship building); a shared domain of interest (such as such as vaccine stability or injury prevention); and a shared practice of experiences, stories, tools, and ways of addressing recurring problems. This approach enables public health professionals to grow and mature while focusing on efforts to share knowledge and solve problems. Health care practices form CoPs around innovations in delivery of care or maximizing existing resources. https://www.cdc.gov/phcommunities/resourcekit/evaluate/swot_analysis.html (Links to an external site.)
