Using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II) Instrument

Responses to classmates must consist of at least 350 words (not including the greeting and the references), do NOT repeat the same thing your classmate is saying, try to add something of value like a resource, educational information to give to patients, possible bad outcomes associated with the medicines discussed in the case, try to include a sample case you've seen at work and discuss how you feel about how that case was handled. Try to use supportive information such as current Tx guidelines, current research related to the treatment, anything that will enhance learning in the online classroom. Agree II Instrument The purpose of the Agree II Instrument is to address variability that can be present in guidelines. Outcomes can be related to the level of quality of guidelines. There are instances were variations require international guidelines to be developed. Researchers in different areas ought to come together to be a part of the ongoing process of decreasing discrepancy (Canadian institute-a, 2014). The Agree II instrument begun in 2003 by the Agree Enterprise who works on endeavors related to science advancements and research. The developments from them are based on a 23-item tool that includes six domains. This tool has been translated into many languages and cited in over six hundred publications. The information from this entity has also been endorsed by many health care organizations (Canadian institute-b, 2014). The Agree II assesses the transparency and rigour related to guidelines and practices. There were areas that were refined to better meet the needs of the user (Canadian institute-c, 2014; Canadian institute-b, 2014). There is also an Agree3 (Application, Appropriateness, Action) that is based on a conceptual model called Guideline Implementability for Decision Excellence Model (GUIDE-M) (Canadian institute-d, 2014). The Agree II guidelines for evaluation can be related to the patient care. For instance, the effectiveness of blood glucose monitoring in patients with Type 2 Diabetes, reviewing the daily dosage post heart attack, and decreased in colon cancer due to occult blood screening. The guideline that is of interest and benefit is rigour of development. This guideline considers benefits, risk, and side effects of recommendations. These include but are not limit to survival, adverse effects symptoms, and quality of life (Canadian Institute, 2017). This was chosen because it is driven by data related to harm, benefits, and side effects (Canadian Institute, 2017). There are examples of other implementations. For instance, the guidelines related to juvenile idiopathic arthritis. The Agree II Instrument showed that there was variability, but no conflict in progression of treatment related to pharmacology (Smith et al, 2015). Another example is related to the quality of practice of Melanoma. The Agree II Instrument showed that the guidelines were of high methodological quality (Steeb et al, 2020). Guidelines should be accessible, evidence based, easy-to-use, and related to practice knowledge for implemented guidelines (Burls, 2010). References Burls, A. (2010).
